Nuchev and
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT)

Working together since 2015.

RMIT is the leading Australian University with research capabilities to understand and scientifically prove the benefits of goat’s milk.

They have researched prebiotics oligosaccharides (oligos for short), a non digestible food for the good bacteria in your tummy, these are found in high quantities in Oli6® and aid gut health, immunity and digestion.

This research has now been published in the British Journal of Nutrition, a leading international peer-reviewed journal.

Why are these Oligos so important?

86% of all children under the age of two have had digestive issues, the key property in formula that Mums are looking for are probiotics (the actual bacteria) or prebiotics (food for bacteria) to help solve these digestive issues.

The natural prebiotics oligos in goat’s milk are structurally closer to breast milk than standard cow’s milk.

Goat’s milk contain up to 6x the prebiotics oligos of standard cow’s milk.

Common Digestive Problems

Regurgitation, Bad Breath, Eczema, Distressed, Under-nourished, Bad Sleep, Diarrhoea, Constipation and Abnormal Defecation.

RMIT RESEARCH ii

RMIT have been researching the natural prebiotics that are found in Oli6® and their effectiveness, the research was done specifically on Oli6®, GOS and competitors.

The research showed that Oli6® was the best performing product to increase the growth of beneficial bacteria and to reduce the incidence of bad bacteria like E Coli. and proves that the most important Oligos make it through the manufacturing process and into Oli6®.

Many formula brands use artificial prebiotics like GOS and FOS, however, their structure is different to the natural oligos. It is the structure of these natural prebiotics which is crucial to their efficacy as they are genetically compatible with the good bacteria in our tummy, as this is what the good bacteria eat and the harmful bacteria bind onto and get flushed out the system.

Oli6® has five oligosaccharides in common with human milk. Oligos have been shown to aid in the growth of beneficial bacteria and reduce the growth of harmful bacteria like E.Coli.

A) Harmful bacteria will latch onto sugars on our gut lining, they then start multiplying which can cause digestive issues

B) The human milk oligos (HMO), have the same structure as these sugars found on the gut lining. Instead of attaching themselves to the gut wall, bad bacteria attach onto the HMOs

C) The harmful bacteria then get flushed out the system

The different structures of natural and added prebiotics

Galactooligosaccharides (GOS)

• Synthetic Milk Oligosaccharides derived from animals

• Structurally not similar to naturally occurring human milk oligosaccharides

• Conjecture about how effective they are

Fructoologosaccharides (FOS)

• Synthetic Milk Oligosaccharides derived from plants

• Structurally not similar to naturally occurring human milk oligosaccharides

• Conjecture about how effective they are

Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMO)

• Five Oligosaccharides in common with Human Milk were found in Oli6®

• Structured in a way that beneficial bacteria can enzymatically digest them, whereas they are less efficient at digesting FOS and GOS

• Structure is similar to the binding sites which the harmful bacteria attaches itself to the human gut cell lining acting as decoys

• Scientifically proven to aid immunity, gut health and prevent infection
